How to Choose the Right Promotional iPhone Battery Chargers
Q: What is up with mAh on Promotional iPhone Battery Chargers?
Austin, TX: I received this question yesterday and it is one of the most popular questions we receive each week, so it is worthy of moving up in our Questions list for the week.
With so many promotional iPhone battery chargers and power packs on the market, how can you tell which is best to order?
Yes, there are hundreds of battery chargers out there – all available with your company logo. Problem is, they come with a wide disparity in pricing, so I thought we’d explain the most crucial ingredient: Mah.
maH: Milliamp Hour
Milliamps Hour (mAh) is important because it’s the simplest way to differentiate between other battery chargers.
Milliamps Hour is 1/1000th of a Amp Hour, so a 1000mAh = 1.0Ah
Ah– so what is Ah?
What is Ah?
Ah (Ampere hour) is a capacity rating that measures how much current a battery will discharge over a specified period of time (usually measured in a 20 hour period).
Higher mAh ratings determine how long a current can be drawn– basically the amount of energy the battery can store.
For example a 20Ah battery will sustain a 1-amp draw for approximately 20 hours before dropping to a voltage level that is considered “fully discharged”. A 30Ah battery will sustain an 5-Amp draw for approximately six hours.
A battery with 3000 mAh can store double the amount of energy that the one with 1500mAh can store. However, this does not necessarily directly translate into 2 times the usage time for the device, but it is a general indication on how long the device can power itself from the battery in ideal conditions.
Keep in mind that other factors affect battery life–such as temperature, internal resistance, depth of discharge and speed of charge/discharge so you will usually get fewer hours than simple math will yield.
Charge the external battery pack either through a computer or wall outlet. Then simply attach the external battery or battery charger to your phone or tablet –just attach a USB cord from the external battery to your device.
